What to expect at your free consult:
Thank you for booking a consultation with me. This is a no obligation opportunity to have a talk about what you are looking for and whether we both feel that I may be a fit for that.
Here is a little bit of information about what to expect and some ideas for how to prepare, if these feel helpful.
Things I will ask all potential clients:
What you are looking for from working together
I will ask you about how frequently you are hoping to work together and about your availability. I'll check in about any previous experiences of counselling and any support you currently receive. I will also encourage you to ask any questions you’d like to.
Questions about risk
I will need to ask if you have ever thought about hurting yourself or ending your life, and any thoughts or plans you have about this at the moment. Feeling suicidal and self harm are not necessarily reasons why we could not work together and I encourage you to be open and honest with me, so that I can best assess your needs, and how we might collaborate. I will also ask you about any medication you take, and any diagnoses you have.
Additional questions if you are interested in remote sessions by Zoom:
Your hopes and any fears about working remotely
Although we’ve got more familiar with working online in the last couple of years, there can be some differences in the way that therapy works when we meet by video or phone.
Practicalities
I will ask if you have a confidential space, and suitable internet connection/equipment to support sessions running smoothly, as well as where you live in the UK.
What you are looking for and whether this is a fit for remote work
I currently cannot work with remotely with some issues including disordered eating and domestic violence.

Getting the most from your consult:
You could write down some questions before we meet, or bring a pen and paper to the meeting to make some notes.
I welcome any questions you may have - some that people often ask me are:
How do you think you might be able to help me?
What experience do you have of working with someone like me or what I want help with?
What training have you done (in working with my community)?
What are your qualifications?
Would you give me “homework” to do between sessions?
What does (CBT, Transactional Analysis, Attachment Theory, Person Centred) mean?
How much are sessions and do you offer any reduced rates?
Do you offer flexible timeslots for shift workers?

What will happen at the end of the consult?
I will agree a timeframe with you for us to come back together by email to discuss if working together is a fit for us both.
If you have any questions before we meet, please contact me on breadandrosescounselling@gmail.com.
