Getting Help in a Crisis

This page gives you some resources if you feel you need urgent help. We recommend you speak with your GP as soon as possible.

If your physical safety is in danger, call 999 and speak to the police.

NHS urgent mental health helplines

These helplines are available in most areas of England. They are available 24 hours a day. Most of them are available 7 days a week. You can call them for advice and support for yourself or your relative. They can help you to speak to a mental health professional. And they can assess what is happening and help you to decide on the best course of care.

To find your local helpline go to:www.nhs.uk/service-search/mentalhealth/find-an-urgent-mental-health-helpline

If you are unable to reach help on the mental health helplines and need urgent mental health support (but it is not an emergency), please phone 111

Help from your GP and Emergency Services

Please contact your GP as soon as possible if you need support. Most GPs should now offer evening and weekend appointments - outside of these, you may be referred to an out of hours service.

If you have immediate concerns for your wellbeing or someone else, please attend A&E or call 999 for an ambulance if you are unable to transport yourself to A&E.
